How to Have Conversations With Students About Race That Aren’t Racist

White Supremacy culture makes it challenging to have antiracist conversations about all topics, especially race. Educators committed to practicing—not just talking about—antiracism must design more equitable and just learning environments and empower students to actively, safely and growthfully engage in critical conversations. Join us for tips and resources that will help shape your pedagogy and foster trust in the classroom.

About Stacey
Stacey is an activist educator, passionate about fostering future leaders who are curious, empathetic, collaborative, and courageous. She has taught history, English, and social justice work in elementary, middle, and high schools, and develops and leads partnership-based curriculum design and exchanges between schools and non-profits locally and internationally.

About Alison
As student, teacher and consultant, Alison is working on her practices of equity and inclusion, while collaborating with schools to effect institutional and cultural change so that all—not just some—students, employees and families can thrive. Alison has partnered with over 100 schools, as well as school districts, community-based organizations and government agencies, to shift diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) from an optional value on the margins to a mission-vital “micro, mezzo and macro” (Tervalon and Garcia) practice at the core of who they are and what they do.
