A Holistic Approach to Assessing Historical Thinking – Pete Lapré | The OC for Social Studies

OER Conference for K-12 Social Studies | Track Talk: Assessing historical thinking

A Holistic Approach to Assessing Historical Thinking

We have a tendency to teach historical thinking skills to students in silos. Students might learn how to contextualize or source but they don’t often get to put these skills together to really do the work of historians. By designing assessments and activities that allow students to learn these skills while also putting them together in a holistic way will help students understand what it means to “do history”.
